Choose the experience before the logo
This guide covers 23 services and tools, with Talaforge as the Telegram-based reference point. Some are companion products, some are creative communities, and others are interfaces or general assistants. They do not solve exactly the same problem.
The descriptions below use first-party pages checked on 18 October 2026. They are feature observations, not hands-on quality rankings. Where a current official page could not be verified, we say so. Prices, access and policies can change.
What to compare
- Access: web, mobile, Telegram or a self-managed interface. An app listing does not mean the product is app-only.
- Memory: recent context, summaries, explicit notes, retrieval and editable facts are different controls. Ask what you can inspect, correct and delete.
- Creative control: character fields, models, branches, lorebooks, media and export formats. Test the workflow you need rather than counting checkmarks.
- Costs and responsibility: subscriptions, credits, energy, external inference or local hardware. Check the current limits and privacy terms before committing.
Character.AI
Character discovery with Story Memory and pinned messages. Its memory announcement also describes editable Facts on a paid tier, including manual additions and controls to disable individual facts.
Check the current plan and memory limits. The available controls do not establish how accurately a character will recall your particular scene.
Janitor AI
We could not recheck its current official help pages for this edition. Treat current models, subscriptions, memory controls and import options as unverified here.
Check those details in its own settings before paying or moving a character. Do not assume an external API key is always required.
CHAI
A character-and-story chat platform with official iOS and Android downloads.
Check the current app, plan and character controls; we have not measured memory quality or ranked its writing.
Replika
A companion product with a visible Memory tab and manual memory additions, alongside broader memory behavior.
The visible list is not a complete transcript of everything used for personalization. Check the controls and plan you will actually use.
Kindroid
Custom companions with backstory and key memories, text, voice and video calls, selfies and group experiences. Its site lists web and mobile access.
Memory features and media allowances depend on the current plan. It is not accurately described as mobile-only.
Nomi
Companion chats with editable Mind Maps that expose an overview of remembered context.
Mind Maps are scoped to individual or group-chat rooms and are distinct from other memory layers; editing an overview is not editing every underlying memory.
DreamGF
A custom-companion service advertising character customization, pictures and voice messages.
Review its age rules, subscription and credit costs. Media features are a different comparison from text-only message limits.
Talkie
A web character-chat catalogue with community-created characters.
Compare the current creation, conversation and memory controls directly. A character's public fictional description is not evidence of a product feature.
Yodayo
A creative community advertising Tavern character chat, lorebooks, voice, tools for creating images and videos.
Check which product surface and plan a feature belongs to; creative-generation tools and chat allowances are not interchangeable.
Sakura AI
A web character-chat catalogue.
Review current creation, memory and paid-plan controls directly. We do not infer missing features from a short public homepage.
SpicyChat
A character-chat service whose documentation describes selectable models, lorebooks and a memory manager.
The memory manager supports adding, editing and removing chat memories on eligible subscriptions. Lorebook entries instead load through keyword triggers; model availability also depends on the current plan.

SillyTavern
An open-source interface you install and connect to a local or remote model backend, with character cards, world information and extensions.
Running the interface locally does not make a cloud model private or free. Backend setup, hardware and inference costs remain your responsibility.
Backyard AI
A character platform with text and voice chat, lorebooks, author notes and model parameters. Its current site offers web and mobile entry points.
Do not assume an old desktop-only description covers the current service. Check the specific client, hosting and subscription you intend to use.
RisuAI
An open-source roleplay client with character sharing, multiple backend connections and advanced prompt and memory features.
It supports several platforms, including web. Capabilities and costs depend partly on the selected backend and your configuration.
KoboldAI / KoboldCpp
A writing and inference-tool family rather than one ready-made companion subscription. The legacy KoboldAI repository directs modern-model users to KoboldCpp.
Check the maintained project and hardware requirements. Local execution, remote hosting and the selected model have different privacy and cost implications.
CrushOn.AI
A character-chat service with model settings, persona Profile Cards, visual Scene Cards, pinned messages, automatic summaries and voice features.
Scene Cards set a visual background; they are not the same control as memory pins or summaries. Verify the current plan and test recall rather than treating a pin as a guarantee.
Candy AI
A browser-based companion service advertising text, images, voice and video.
Review age requirements and media credits separately from chat access. No separate app download is required for its web experience.
Poe
A multi-bot platform with creator tools and an eligible creator-monetization program.
Its optional account memory works with most official chat bots. The FAQ excludes user-created bots, group chats and non-chat generators from that memory feature. Creator-program eligibility and payment terms vary.

ChatGPT
A general assistant with configurable memory and personalization controls, depending on plan, region and workspace.
It is not a memory-free blank prompt. Account memory and instructions are still different from a dedicated roleplay character, scene and catalogue workflow.
Claude
A general assistant with memory and past-chat search, including review and control settings.
Plan and workspace rules affect availability. Compare its actual project and memory behavior instead of claiming that every new chat starts from nothing.
Gemini
A general assistant with past-chat personalization and instructions for eligible accounts.
Availability depends on the feature and account; Google’s help page excludes work, school and supervised accounts from the described personalization.
zeta
A story-oriented character service with documented dice events, character texting and diary features.
The announcement limits these features to supported models and enabled plots, with a gradual rollout and feature-specific costs.
Likoteka (Ликотека)
A Russian-language character and story service with group chat and visual features. Its help page describes plan-dependent conversation context.
Public character and story publishing is tied to paid plans and moderation. Longer context is not a guarantee of perfect recall.

Features can differ between a direct chat, a character's own bot, a group and a Business connection. Check the permissions and supported controls of the surface you intend to use.
Try a small comparison first
Use the same short scene on your shortlist. Test one important fact, one boundary, a branch or retry, the media you need and the cost of a realistic session. Keep your original notes and export only material you are entitled to move.
